+1 Records was founded in 2008 as part of the music management company +1 Music.[1] In 2014, +1 Records became an official label partner of Lyor Cohen's 300 Entertainment.[2][3] +1 Records is owned by Jonny Kaps and Nathaniel Hays.[4]

Biography

In the 10 years since +1 Records was formed, Jonny and Nat have been managers, publicists, digital marketing pioneers, brand consultants, event promotors, and label executives. Their vast range of experience and dynamic approach to the music business has facilitated with +1 Record's overall growth and success.

Before +1 Records (2004-2008)

In 2003, while working at a PR company, Jonny Kaps started managing a band called Stellastarr.[5] Meanwhile, Nat Hays had been a fan of Stellastarr even before Jonny started managing the band. As Stellastarr was gaining recognition within the industry, Jonny designed a new business model, merging artist management with PR. Intrigued by Stellastarr's newfound growth, Nat reached out to Jonny to discuss the band. After meeting and realizing their similar visions, Nat and Jonny decided to start the company which became +1 Records.

Early Years (2008-2013)

+1 began in Jonny Kaps' apartment in 2004, but it wasn't until 2008 that Nat and Jonny launched a full service, independent record label.[5] 2010 brought in their first hit, The Heavy's How You Like Me Now. Jonny and Nat managed to get the band to perform on Letterman; a video of the performance went viral soon after. After success with band Atlas Genius, Jonny and Nat began working with the partners who were in the process of forming 300 Entertainment.

+1 Records Today (2013-Present)

in 2013, Jonny and Nat partnered +1 Records with 300 Entertainment. The partnership came naturally, as both companies share similar visions, and are independent startups. Since joining 300, +1 has expanded their influence with the creation of two singles labels, Honeymoon and Vitalic Noise.
