- March 4 - Turkish Airlines Flight TK726, landing in dense fog in Kathmandu, skids off a slippery runway, however, there are no serious injuries.[3]
April
- April 25 - A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Nepal 34 km (21 mi) east southeast of Lamjung at a depth of 15.0 km (9.3 mi).[4] In total, at least 10000 people were killed in Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and China.[5][6]
May
- May 12 - A magnitude 7.3 earthquake strikes the town of Namche Bazaar near the Tibetan border and the base camp for Mount Everest, killing at least 66 people in Nepal. [7]

- October 29 -Bidhya Devi Bhandari first Nepalese woman President to hold the office. [8]
