On 26 February 2016, a Air Kasthamandap PAC 750XL, with eleven people on board, crashed at Chilkhaya in Kalikot district, Nepal, killing two crew members and injuring the nine passengers, one critically.[1] Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli expressed condolences to the families of crew members killed in the incident.[2] The accident occurred only two days after a Viking Air DHC-6-400 Twin Otter of Tara Air crashed in Nepal, killing 23.[3]
Victims
The victims were identified as co-pilot Santosh Rana and pilot Dinesh Neupane. Santosh Rana was the son of Nepal's Minister of Land Reform and Management, CPN-UML central leader, and lawmaker Dal Bahadur Rana.[4]
Investigation
Initial reports indicate that the crew were trying to make an emergency landing due to a technical problem.[5] The aircraft attempted to land on a farmer’s field near the top of a mountain, but the forward fuselage was reported to have been crushed.
