The 2016 Limerick Senior Football Championship is the 120th edition of the Limerick GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior graded teams in County Limerick, Ireland. The tournament consists of 12 teams, with the winner going on to represent Limerick in the Munster Senior Club Football Championship. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage.
Newcastle West were the defending champions after they defeated Dromcollogher/Broadford in the previous years final, however they relinquished their crown when losing to the same opposition at this year's Quarter-Final stage.
This was Oola's return to the senior grade after claiming the 2015 Limerick Intermediate Football Championship title.
Pallasgreen were relegated after four years as a senior club.
On 15th October Monaleen claimed their 6th S.F.C. title when defeating Dromcollogher/Broadford 2-14 to 1-11 in the final in the Gaelic Grounds.
