The 2017 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters is the eighteenth season of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, since the series' resumption in 2000. Hankook extend their DTM tyre supplier role until 2019 as the South Korean tyre company announced on May 6, 2016.[1]

Team changes
Leaving DTM
- ART Grand Prix and Mücke Motorsport will cease their DTM involvement due to DTM field cars size reduced to 18 cars (6 per team).[2]
Driver changes
Changing teams
- The 2016 DTM championsip runner-up Edoardo Mortara left Audi to join Mercedes.[3]
Leaving DTM
- Former champions Martin Tomczyk and Timo Scheider announced that they will both retire from DTM championship after 16 years.[4][5]
- BMW driver António Félix da Costa announced that will leave DTM in the end of the 2016 season to focus on Formula E [6]
Rule changes
- On September 17, 2016, DTM announced that the competitor size may be reduced from 24 to 18 competitors.[7][8]
- For the first time ever all DTM cars introduced the hybrid systems (similar to Formula One) to improve overtaking.[9]
