The following events are expected or scheduled in 2017 in Georgia.
Scheduled events
- April – Presidential election is due in breakaway South Ossetia. Expected contestants include the incumbent Leonid Tibilov and parliament speaker Anatoly Bibilov as well as the former president Eduard Kokoity.[1]
- October – Elections of the bodies of local government, the 6th in Georgia's post-Soviet history. At the same time, a new law, adopted in 2014, enters into force, envisaging direct elections of mayors and executive heads of local government (gamgebeli) for a four-year term.[2]
