8th National Congress of the Communist Party of China

The 8th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held September 15–27, 1956 in Beijing.

Delegates: 1,02 Alternate delegates: 107 Represented party members: 10,730,000

Significance: first Congress to be held in 11 years; Mao Zedong Thought is taken out of CPC Party Constitution; Party technocrats Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping assume higher profiles. The 8th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was elected.
