Aayushkalam (Malayalam:ആയുഷ്കാലം) is a 1992 Malayalam psychological thriller-fantasy film starring Jayaram, Mukesh, Sreenivasan and Gavin Packard. It was inspired from the 1990 Hollywood film Heart Condition[1] Aayushkalam was remade to Hindi as Hello Brother.

Synopsis

Balakrishnan (Mukesh) is a heart patient and works as a banker. He urgently needs a heart transplant and luckily he receives the heart of Aby Mathew (Jayaram) who was dead a few moments ago in a car accident. After the operation, Balakrishnan discovers that he can see Aby Mathew while nobody else can. Balakrishnan realises that Aby Mathew is a ghost and is only visible to him.

Aby informs Balakrishnan that he has a mother and stays along his wife and a newborn daughter. He was murdered and not killed by a car accident. Aby had no enemies and wants to know his murderer and bring his killers in front of the law. He takes Balakrishnan's help and start investigating. Balakrishnan also takes the help of Sub Inspector Damu (Sreenivasan) who at first does not believe him but later assists in the investigation in an unofficial manner.

Balakrishnan discovers that Aby Mathew was murdered by his adopted brother and confidant Alex Chandanavelil,(Saikumar) who had selfish motives to take over his business, and that the lives of Aby's wife (Maathu)and mother (Kaviyoor Ponnamma) are also in danger. In the end Aby avenges his murder by killing Alex by entering Inspector Damu's body.
