The Abbaye Saint-Marien d'Auxerre was an abbey in Auxerre in the French department of Yonne in Burgundy. Established in the fifth century, it was the first monastery established in the diocese.[1][2]

History

The abbey was originally founded as a monastery called the Monastery of Saint Cosme and Damian, but was later renamed St. Marien. It was destroyed during the Norman invasions of the 9th century. In the 11th century, it was rebuilt as a Norbertine abbey. The abbey was destroyed again in 1570.

St. Marien is the first of four "daughters" of the cathedral, followed by St. Eusebius, Pope and St. Amâtre.[3][4]
