Adavi Simhalu (English: Forest Lions) is a 1983 Telugu Action film produced by C. Ashwini Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies[3] and directed by K. Raghavendra Rao.[4] The film stars Krishna, Krishnam Raju, Sridevi, Jaya Prada in the lead roles and music composed by Chakravarthy.[5] The film was remade in Hindi as Jaani Dost in the same year with Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Sridevi, Parveen Babi in pivotal roles. Both the movies were made simultaneously by the same banner and director, some of the scenes and artists are replicated in both the versions.[6]

Plot

Raj Nagar estate owner Raja Narendra Varma is a millionaire. He and his wife Annapurnamma (Krishna Kumari) they have a son and she is pregnant with a daughter. One day his brother-in-law Cobra Kondala Rao (Rao Gopal Rao), a smuggler and gangster, kills Narendra Varma and frames it as an accident. He also tries to kill their son, Krishna (Krishna), but Krishna escapes. In his hiding place, Krishna meets a boy, Raju (Krishnam Raju), and they become good friends. Raju decides to spend time with Krishna, sacrificing his studies in the process.

After 20 years, Raju becomes a lorry driver and Krishna enters a life of crime. One day, Raju protects a girl, Lalitha (Jaya Prada), from gangsters sent by Cobra's son, Nagu (Prasad Babu) because she refused to marry him. Krishna works for Hari (Satyanarayana), the younger brother of Cobra, who frequently wears disguises. Raju and Lalitha love each other, but Cobra does not approve. Krishna loves a young, dynamic girl,Karate Rani Rekha (Sridevi), whose mother is cheated by Hari for whom she is currently searching for.

Raju learns that Krishna is participating in a cycle of crime, which often hurts him, creating conflict between the two. However, Raju soon learns that Veeru is an undercover CBI agent. He arrests all the criminals, but Hari escapes. Cobra devises a plan to make Lalitha marry an unknown person by keeping her mother in his custody, and he sends Raju to jail by trapping him in a murder case. Cobra then kills Lalitha in an accident.

Cobra, Hari, and Nagu escape to the forest where they conduct their undercover activities. Raju escapes from jail and goes to the forest; Krishna wants to protect Raju. He goes on the trip, along with Rekha, because she realizes Hari is her father. Cobra's gang tries to murder Krishna and Rekha, but they escape and meet Lalitha, who escaped from the accident as well, and Krishna then realizes that Lalitha is his own sister.

Afterward, Raju and Krishna keep on attacking Cobra’s activities in the name of the Adavi Simhalu by changing their disguises. Cobra plays a trick and creates a clash between Raju and Krishna by creating an image in the minds of both that the other Adavi Simhalu is a bad person. One day in a carrel, Raju and Krishna meet each other accidentally and they come to know the truth. They unite to oversee the end of Cobra’s gang. Finally, Krishna marries Rekha and Raju marries Lalitha.
