Ahmed Abou Hashima is the CEO of Egyptian Steel group, Egyptian Media and Egyptian Cement, and the managing director of FE Steel.

Career

Hashima co-founded Egyptian Steel in 2010, after working in the steel industry since 1996. After January 2011, he invested in Egyptian Steel. By 2015 the company and its subsidiaries produced 300 thousand tons per year, and he launched an initial public offering on the Egyptian Exchange of between 25 and 30 percent of the company 's shares .[1]

In April 2016 he announced plans for the company to be the largest environmentally sustainable steel producer in the world, when all four plants are operational. [2]

Hashima is also the founder of the building materials company Egyptian Cement,[3] and Egyptian Media, which he started by acquiring 100% of the television channel ONTV, 51% of “Presentation Sports” for sports marketing and media, and 50% of Misr Cinema for movie and TV production. [4]

In 2015, Egyptian Steel co-sponsored an outreach initiative for tourism in Egypt,[5] He was among the first to donate to the account 306306, which was created by businessmen to support the Egyptian economy after the June 30 Revolution.[6]

Personal and family life

Hashima graduated from the Port Said University, Egypt. He was married to Lebanese entertainer Haifa Wehbe[7] in 2009. The couple divorced in 2012.[8] Hashima settled the divorce with his wife for a reported $30 million, money borrowed in part from the Muslim Brotherhood.[9]

Philanthropic work

Hashima has supported several charitable causes, including the 2012 Deaf & Mute National Football Team;[10] the 2012 Paralympics; the 2013 Special Olympics team. He has made charitable donations to a number of orphanages.[11][12]

In 2012 Egyptian Steel donated 20,000 tons of rebar for a youth housing project. The following year the company distributed 100,000 energy saving light bulbs to the community, and was instrumental in the installation of fresh water taps in 1000 houses in Nazla Village, Fayoum.[13] Egyptian Steel sponsored the 2016 Egyptian Deaf & Mute Team in the FIFA World Cup Tournament.[14]
