Ahmed Elashry


Ahmed Elashry is an Egyptian Activist he worked as a Media Consultant, Researcher and Social Media Manager in The Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Centre and has been the social media manager and deputy advisor for three Prime Ministers of Egypt. He has been widely recognized as a volunteer and activist in the Arab community appearing in several prominent newspapers and radio stations. He remains active in the Arab community speaking at engagements and organizing workshops. Elashry Co-founded the first neutral Egyptian community newspaper after 25 January revolution.

Early life

Ahmed was born in Cairo on October 20, 1989

Education

Ahmed has a Law degree from Ain Shams University in Egypt and an MA in Public Administration and Public Policy from the University of York in the UK as a Chevening scholar where he also represented the students at his faculty. During his education time Ahmed was the social media ambassador for Chevening Scholarship and he wrote numerous blogs about his MA and his life in the United Kingdom.[1] Ahmed’s Master research[2] focused on the Democratization post 2011 and the Egyptian Government in its reform process.

Career

Ahmed has been active since the age of fourteen; he has founded a radio program 'Salam Ya Masr' for youth in the Middle East, worked on Child Rights issues and a youth empowerment strategies with several organizations in Egypt and served as the president of his Student Union in university. He has also coordinated the communications and strategic planning components of the Women’s International Peace Movement and Co-founded a neutral Egyptian community newspaper.[3]

In addition to his activism in Egypt, Ahmed has represented Egypt in several prestigious international youth programs and organizations such as the United Nations Alliance of Civilization Youth Program, The Ship for World Youth Program[4] in partnership with UN University, The Kennisland – an Independent Think Tank in Amsterdam, The International Association for Volunteers Effort in Lebanon and the Arab Thought Forum in Jordan.

ِSeveral newspapers mentioned that Ahmed was the first Egyptian and Arab to run for the student's union presidency [5] in the University of York in the UK[6]

Elashry is social media activist with number of followers on his social media platforms.[7]
