Ahmed Mito

Ahmed Mito (November 5, 1966 – October 14, 2015) was an Egyptian architect. Mito worked in various functions advising government bodies and worked as the Director of the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome from 2011 to 2012. His last position was as Lecturer at the Department of Architecturer at Ain Shams University.

Work

Mito is best known for his design of the building housing the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt. This an unusual contemporary instance of Egyptian Revival architecture, a style more popular in the nineteenth century. It includes counseling halls, a multi purpose hall for 450 people, offices, a library, a museum, and a large atrium that rises up to 18 meters and is covered by a dome.
