Ajman International Airport (Arabic: مطار عجمان الدولي) is an upcoming international airport that will serve the emirate of Ajman, United Arab Emirates. With continued growth in the global and UAE aviation market, Ajman has the opportunity to capture some of this activity for the benefit of its growing economy and population.

History

The government of Ajman has granted Whitelake Consortium (WLC) the sole concession to build and operate the proposed Ajman International Airport. To enable this prestigious project to proceed, WLC has been provided with a site within the Al Manama enclave, 52 km east of Ajman City. The site is in an advantageously strategic location in the heart of the Northern Emirates and well connected by the existing road infrastructure to other emirate.

A modern state-of-the-art airport will be built to provide complimentary services to existing passenger air transport links in the UAE and will become the home of a new base-carrier airline. The facilities of this airport have been designed, with a 4000 m long runway, to typically accept airplanes like Airbus A380. To expand airport usage, niche opportunities to serve the needs of the air cargo and logistics, maintenance and executive aircraft operations shall be created.

With aviation in the Middle East set to nearly double in throughput in the next decade, the planned operational date of Q1/2019 appears timely. The airport's construction will encourage development in the adjacent land with plans set for hotels, restaurants, commercial offices, residential units, retail, educational centers (medical and technical), exhibition halls. This further investment will create a destination in this region of which Ajman and the UAE can be proud.
