Akkare is a 1984 Indian Malayalam film, directed and produced by KN Sasidharan. The film stars Nedumudi Venu, Bharath Gopi, Madhavi, Mammoottyand Mohanlal in lead roles.[1][2][3]
Plot
Tehsildar Gopi is living a moderate life. He is a well-respected person of the place and has no great difficulty in caring his wife and children. But his wife is always not happy, greedy and longs for a luxurious life. She believes the only way to have it is for Gopi to move to Gulf. One day a person from Gulf named Johnny arrives the place. His ways of making a living in the Gulf is not dealt in detail. But it is assumed that he is not enjoying a very good life there. Because of his wife’s compulsion Thahasildar Gopi decides to meet him with a plan to board for Gulf. There with Johny’s advice he starts learning typewriting. Later another person named Ismail also arrives from Gulf. From Ismail Gopi understands that typewriting do not have good job opportunities there because of many companies are recruiting Arabs instead of foreigners. Ismail's father being a tailor naturally tells him sewing has better opportunities than typewritting. Gopi arranges some sacks of cements for Ismail in between as a token of thanks. Tehsildar's wife Padmavathi meanwhile compel him to learn sewing so Ismail may be able to help to get him a visa. While learning sewing at a man’s house who also happened to run lewd business, he is happened to fall into an illicit relationship with the daughter of the man who teaches him sewing. One night when the father is not at home Tehsildar happens to come to the house and sways for the sexual advances of the daughter. That night he is caught by the local people mistaking him as a thief while he was running from the house to catch a thief whom he sees just passes by. In the police station he is identified as the Tehsildar and the police sets him free after taking him to the hospital. Now Tehsildar has lost his prestige and good name in the society. Later or on the next day his wife’s brother Sudhan who also arrives from the Gulf tells him the real condition abroad. According to him a person who is willing to do almost all kinds of jobs like that of a head load worker's can get a job and survive in Gulf. Tehsildar is disappointed to hear this news. Next day he gets a letter telling he is suspended from his job because of the case against him. He imagines himself becoming a head load worker carrying Johnny's luggage who, this time is returning from the Gulf. In this climax scene Gopi is portrayed as a toy which drums when wind up just like he had been doing everything whatever his wife says who this time saying Sudhan will arrange a visa next year and he should do manual job if needed.
