Alan Dupont
Alan Dupont has worked on Australian defence and Asian security issues for more than thirty years as a strategist, diplomat, policy analyst, and scholar.[1] He is Michael Hintze Chair of International Security and the Director of the Centre for International Security Studies at the University of Sydney, Australia.[1] Dupont received his PhD in International Relations from the Australian National University in Canberra, and is a graduate of both the Royal Military College, Duntroon, and the US Foreign Service Institute.[2] He is also a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Lowy Institute for International Policy in Sydney.[1][3]
Dupont is an expert on East Asia and one of Australia's foremost thinkers on international security.[4] In particular, he is internationally known as a pioneer in the study of transnational and non-traditional security threats. In recent years, he has authored pathbreaking studies addressing linkages between climate change and international security.[5]
