Romanian singer Alexandra Stan has released three studio albums, a reissue album, two video albums and 17 singles. Stan's career began in 2009, when music producers Marcel Prodan and Andrei Nemirschi heard her singing at a karaoke bar and offered her a contract under their management, Maan Studio.[1] That same year, she released the promotional song "Show Me The Way" in Romania. Her debut single, "Lollipop (Param Pam Pam)" (2009), was heavy broadcast on native radio stations.[2]

In 2011, the singer released her breakthrough single "Mr. Saxobeat", which was an immediate commercial success, peaking at number one on the Romanian Top 100 for eight consecutive weeks.[3] The single was subsequently released internationally, reaching the top position in eight countries across Europe including Germany and Italy. The recording was certified in multiple regions, including Platinum in the United Kingdom, triple Gold in Germany and Gold in Spain. Stan's follow-up single "Get Back (ASAP)" charted in many European countries, while peaking at number 56 on the UK Singles Chart. In August 2011, Stan's debut album, Saxobeats, was made available and managed to peak within the top forty in Austria, Finland, Germany and Switzerland.

In 2013, Saxobeats was re-released under the title Cliché (Hush Hush) exclusively in Japan. The reissue spawned three singles: "Lemonade", "Cliché (Hush Hush)" and "All My People". Stan's second studio album, Unlocked, was released in August 2014, including the top seventy singles "Cherry Pop" and "Dance"; both gained popularity in Japan.[4][5] "Dance" topped the airplay-based Zip FM year-end chart in 2014 and was named that year's most aired song on their radio station.[6] Unlocked was less commercially successful than Saxobeats, peaking at number 21 on the Japanese Albums Chart. It left the chart after 17 weeks, and sold 17,045 copies in that country. In June 2015, Stan premiered a single with Inna and Daddy Yankee titled "We Wanna" for her third studio album, Alesta, which was made available for consumption in 2016 along with second single "Balans" in collaboration with Mohombi. In the summer of that year, the singer provided vocals for "Call the Police", a recording credited to four-part girl band G Girls.
