Alfred Charles Holland is a retired Anglican Bishop of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia. He served from 1978 to 1992.
In August 2016, Former Bishop Holland gave evidence before the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in which he denied, in contradiction to the evidence of multiple other witnesses, that he had been made aware that priests serving under his authority had committed multiple criminal acts of child sexual abuse during his tenure as bishop. During his testimony, former Bishop Holland refused to take responsibility for any failure on his part in the decades long paedophile-priest ring's abuse of children in his diocese during his tenure.[1]
