Allister Gall
Allister Gall (born 3 April 1980 in Plymouth, England) is a filmmaker-artist, musician and educator in Plymouth, UK. He is the founder and co-director of Imperfect Cinema, a do-it-yourself (or do-it-ourselves) film collective project. Working across a range of media, his work explores film, video and sound-music often as a participatory practice. His PhD, 'Towards a Cinema of Imperfection: An Investigation through Practice', explores the relationship between DIY punk ethics/aesthetics and radical cinema. Beginning as a founding member of punk rock band Damerels and film collective Imperfect Cinema, his work often explores live screen/sound collaborations, DIY participatory methodologies and the politics of imperfection. His work has been exhibited across the UK, in Europe and the USA including: the Interstate Gallery in Brooklyn New York, the Supersonic Festival in Birmingham, Exploding Cinema and the Lift-Off Film Festival in London. His research articles have been published in the Avanca International Journal of Cinema and Media Studies, One Plus One Filmmakers Journal and Making Futures Journal.
British professional basketball player, who played for Southampton College (USA), Franklin Pierce University (USA), Team Westaro (Ireland), and was the captain of the Plymouth Raiders in the British Basketball League winning player of the year in 2010.[1]
He lectures media arts and film at Plymouth University and Plymouth College of Arts.
