Amar Sindhu (Sindhi: امر سنڌو‎) (Original name: Salma Leghari Baloch) is a Sindhi writer, human rights activist and professor. She was born on 28 August 1968, in village Dodo Khan Leghari, Mirpur Khas, Sindh. She is the daughter of Hussain Bux Leghari.

Early life

She belonged with family of Comrade Ghulam Mohammed Laghari who was human rights activist and active member of left politics in Sindh, Pakistan.

Professional career

She is chairperson of Department of Philosophy at Sindh University Jamshoro.[1][2][3][4] She is a socialist and active member of women action forum.[5] She, along with her other friends, had been publishing a magazine "Adrish" on political, social, cultural and theoretical issues.[6]

Amar had hold many talk shows and wrote number of columns in Daily Kawish. She is one of the poets from Pakistan who is the part of the German project "Poets Translating Poets".[7]
