The thick-billed grasswren (Amytornis modestus) is a species of bird in the Maluridae family. It is endemic to Australia.[2][3] Its natural habitat is Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation.

While not completely accepted by all authourities, the following seven subspecies are recognized by Clements and the IOC:[4]
