Enrique Andrés Muciño Castro (born December 27, 1991 in Puebla, Puebla, Mexico) is a Mexican pianist.

Biography

Enrique Andrés Muciño Castro was born on December 27, 1991 in Puebla, Puebla, Mexico. Muciño was raised by his mother and maternal grandparents. He started taking piano lessons at the age of four in a Yamaha Academy.[1] Muciño was from very young age recognized as one of the best young artists of Mexico, being Frédéric Chopin and Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff his main influences. At the age of six, Muciño gave his first concert at the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla. After that, he studied with the Guadalupe Rodríguez de Mena, Carmen Badillo and Ana María Tradatti. At the age of seven, he won the 4th prize in the International Piano Competition in Virginia. When Andrés was 9 years old, he got a scholarship from the Sociedad Internacional de Valores de Arte Mexicano, an organization directed by Plácido Domingo and Pepita Serrano.

At the age of 10, he went to the Cleveland Institute of Music in Cleveland, Ohio. There he studied with the distinguished Armenian pianist Sergei Babayan in the Sergei Babayan International Piano Academy. Muciño was there two years, and then he went back to Mexico to study with the Japanese pianist, Misa Ito at the Fundación Universidad de las Américas, Puebla. Muciño has played twice at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. He played in the Quinta Gala Latina for all the First Ladies of America. He has also played in different stages in Mexico and the US, such as the Mexican Embassy in Washington. Recently, he also won the second and third prizes on the Young Pianists Piano Competition "Parnassos" which is held in Monterrey, Mexico. Muciño has also received several different recognitions and prizes. Muciño is currently studying in Puebla, Puebla with the Ukrainian pianist Olena Silich.
