Andrew Klaber is the president and founder of Even Ground (previously Orphans Against AIDS),[1] an international non-profit organization that annually provides more than 2,000 children[2] who have been orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS with academic support, basic health care, and nutrition. He is also an investor at Paulson & Company, a multi-strategy hedge fund in New York.

Originally from Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Klaber attended Adlai E. Stevenson High School,[3] graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa president[4] from Yale College, where he was a Truman Scholar,[5] Udall Scholar,[6] and First-Team USA-Today Academic All-American,[7] and received the Arthur Twining Hadley Prize and David Everett Chantler Award for "exemplifying qualities of courage, strength of character and high moral purpose" at graduation.[8] He earned Masters of Science degrees in Financial Economics and Economic History as a Marshall Scholar[9] at Oxford University, and holds a JD/MBA from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School, where he graduated with Distinction and as the Dean's Award winner.[10]

Klaber received the President's Environmental Youth Award at the White House in 2001 for his "successful efforts to persuade schools to buy recycled paper" and "efforts and commitment to help the environment"[11] and the Yale-Jefferson Public Service Award for his "innovative and sustained contributions to society,"[12] served with the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on Orphaned and Vulnerable Children,[13] and presented Even Ground at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in 2008.[14] He rowed on the Yale lightweight crew (2002 national champions),[15] ran in the Berlin, Boston, Chicago, Hamptons, London, New York (2009, 2013, 2016), Paris, Philadelphia, Valencia, and Washington, D.C. marathons, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro,[16] and pedaled 4,200-miles (New Haven, CT to San Francisco, CA) to raise awareness and financial support for Habitat for Humanity in 2001.[17]

Klaber serves or has served on the boards of several organizations, including the Yale Alumni Fund,[18] Harvard Law School Overseers Committee,[19] Co-Chair of the Echoing Green Social Investment Council,[20] Magdalen Society,[21] President of the Association of Marshall Scholars,[22] Truman Scholars Association,[23] Learning Matters,[24] AEI Enterprise Club,[25] Brookings Society,[26] Bowery Mission Young Philanthropists,[27] International Rescue Committee GenR,[28] New York Public Library Young Lions,[29] Public Theater Young Partners,[30] Co-Chair of the United Jewish Appeal Young Wall Street Executive Board,[31] Natan,[32] New York Needs You Young Leadership Board,[33] and Russell Trust Association.[34]

Klaber is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations Term Member Program,[35] Trilateral Commission David Rockefeller Fellowship, Partnership for New York City David Rockefeller Fellows Program,[36] Economic Club of New York,[37] Wexner Heritage Program,[38] and New York State Bar.[39] He co-authored a chapter of the book, Social Entrepreneurship in the Age of Atrocities: Changing Our World (2012) and is a Fellow at Trumbull College, Yale University.[40]
