Jose Manuel "Anel" Paz, (born Buenos Aires, November 14, 1963) is a guitarist, singer, songwriter, recording engineer, and producer.
He was member of Los Violadores, Los Politicos and currently is part of El General Paz & La Triple Frontera (GP3F).[1]
He graduated 'With Honors" from the Musicians Institute (Los Angeles, USA), where he studied with Scott Henderson, Frank Gambale, Paul Gilbert and Joe Diorio, among others.

He is the winner of 15 Lápiz de Oro, 5 Lápiz de Platino, 1 Disco de Oro, 3 Premios Jerry Goldenberg a la Excelencia en las Comunicaciones, among other awards.
It was designated endorser international from Ibanez guitars, nomination for the first time awarded to an Argentine guitarist. He is shown in 2005 Ibanez catalogue, with artists as George Benson, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, Pat Metheny, Joe Satriani, John Scofield and Steve Vai.[2]

He has been a recording engineer and / or producer for Sandro, Joaquin Sabina, Los Violadores, El General Paz & La Triple Frontera, Los Políticos, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Romina Vitale, Cacho Tirao, Charly Garcia, Turf, Los Ratones Paranoicos, Diemen Noord, Los Tipitos, Sergio Pángaro & Baccarat, Nerdkids, and Jairo, among other artists; several of these albums with gold, platinum and multiplatinum sales.

Beginnings

Anel Paz was born in the neighborhood of Parque Patricios, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since childhood, music and musical instruments fascinated him. His parents supported his vocation and when he was six years old he was sent to Collegium Musicum to study music and flute.

His family moved to Flores and at this time of games in the neighborhood, encouraged by their parents, he listened classical music, jazz, tango, folk, rock, Brazilian music, artists as Franz Liszt, Elvis Presley, José Larralde, Paco de Lucia, Eduardo Falu, Frank Sinatra.

At 13 years old, and living in Caballito, he is attracted by the sound of the electric guitar, he discovered artists who influenced him deeply: Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Van Halen, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Rush, Jeff Beck, Queen, and African-American blues. When he was 15 he received, as a Christmas gift, his first electric guitar, and from that moment he founded several garage bands, and plays with them in shows, school and neighborhood festivals.

He began his studies at the Conservatorio Municipal Manuel de Falla, and he took harmony, composition, classical guitar, electric guitar with several teachers, including Juan Carlos Cirigliano, Isabel Siewers, and Claudio Camisassa. In these years classical music, jazz, fusion and hard rock attracted him: Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Ravel, Debussy, Albéniz, Leo Brauer, Randy Rhoads, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Villa-Lobos, Mozart, George Benson, Allan Holdsworth, Pat Metheny, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, John Scofield, Miles Davis were his influences.

Years later, the Conservatory rewards him, choosing Anel to play in a Master Class offered by the great Eduardo Falu.

After this event he gets support from his parents to study at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, California. At the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT), Musician Institute, he studied with Jennifer Batten, Norman Brown, Joe Diorio, Frank Gambale, Paul Gilbert, Scott Henderson, Carl Schroeder, Peter Sprague, among others. He attended seminars with Al Di Meola, Robben Ford, Albert Lee, Joe Pass, Tommy Tedesco, Steve Trovato, Carl Verheley, and others. In 1988 he graduated "With Honors" at the Musicians Institute.

Return to Argentina

Back in Argentina, in 1989 he created, with Ricardo Saul, his own production company: "Raya Music and Sound Design”. In these years he received several national and international awards, including four Lápiz de Oro. He contributes to create the I.T.M.C. (Instituto Tecnológico de Música Contemporánea, certified in Argentina by Musicians Institute), founded by his friend and classmate of GIT, Diego Temprano, Anel was instructor and Director of Studies of the Institute. In the following years he participated in albums as a guitarist, producer and arranger, including Enrique Pinti, and Nacha Guevara among other artists.

Los Violadores

In 1995 he was summoned by Robert "Polaco" Zelazek to become part of Los Violadores, punk band pioneer of the genre in Latin America, in replace of guitar player Gustavo "Stuka" Fossa. With Violadores, he recorded and co-produced the album Otra Patada en los Huevos, and he formed part of the historic return's shows of the band at Cemento, in December 1995. In the following years they performed shows, music videos and tours. In 1997 he recorded the solo version of Hymn to St. Martin for electric guitar and orchestra, which was widely broadcast by Mario Pergolini in Rock & Pop radio.

SuperGaucho

In 1998 he created, with Fernando Buriasco, SuperGaucho Records, his own indie label company and recording studios, where several artists recorded albums, including Cacho Tirao. He produced, composes and records "Conversacional", Romina Vitale’s first album, and also participated in videos and shows of this artist. He is the recording engineer of the albums "Hola" y "Chau" from Los Fabulosos Cadillacs.

Los Políticos

In 1999 he formed his own band, Los Políticos, he recorded an eponymous album and he participated in videos and shows of the band.[4]

Ibanez Guitar

He was named international endorser by Ibanez guitars, nomination for the first time awarded to an Argentine guitarist, and he appears at 2005 catalogue of the brand, with artists such as George Benson, Joe Satriani, John Scofield, Marty Friedman, Pat Metheny, Paul Gilbert, and Steve Vai. In those years he conducted seminars and workshops on improvisation and production, including the Ibanez Guitar Explosion 2003 with Marty Friedman.[5]

Supercharango

In 2003, with Fernando Buriasco, Gianni Dusio and Nicolas Diaz, he created Supercharango,[6] musical content production company, where he produced and recorded albums for various artists, including: 12 Monos, "Generacion Pulgar" of Nerdkids, and "Autoayuda" of Sergio Pangaro & Baccarat. He participated in the music production on films as "Luisa," "El Dedo", "El Ultimo Elvis" (directed by Armando Bo in which Anel was the producer of the Elvis Presley songs’ recreation). In 2007, 2009 and 2011 Supercharango is awarded Mejor Productora de Música (Best Music Production Company) with a Premio Jerry Goldenberg a la Excelencia en la Comunicaciones.[7] Also Supercharango received eleven Lápiz de Oro, five Lápiz de Platino, a Gold Record, and a Gold FIAP, among other awards. In those years he worked as recording engineer on several albums, including: La Tabaré "18 Años" (also participating as a guest musician), Los Ratones Paranoicos "Enigma", Joaquin Sabina "Nos Sobran los Motivos", Sandro "Para Mamá, Sandro "Para Mamá Vol. 2”, Sandro "Recién Ayer", Sandro "Amor Gitano", Sandro" Secretamente Palabras de Amor", Turf "Para Mi, Para Vos Reversiones"(with Charly Garcia, Los Tipitos, Los Villanos, among other guest artists).

El General Paz & La Triple Frontera (GP3F)

In 2007 he founded his new band: El General Paz & La Triple Frontera (GP3F), integrating Latin rock, funk and world music, creating an original and contemporary style.[8] In 2008 GP3F issued its eponymous debut album, he recorded videos and tours various scenarios, including the Pepsi Music festival 2008, 2009 and 2011, the TV special at CM El Canal de la Musica in 2009, and the Primer Festival Itinerante de World Music tour through Patagonia in 2010. The band was the opening act for Gilberto Gil in 2008, and Dominic Miller in 2011. In December 2013 GP3F released "Maravillas", its second studio album, and continues performing shows, tours and videos.
