Ang Wei Neng
Ang Wei Neng (simplified Chinese: 洪维能; traditional Chinese: 洪維能; pinyin: Hóng Wéi Néng; born 31 March 1967) is a Singaporean politician. A member of the Singapore-based People's Action Party (PAP), he currently serves as a member of parliament (MP) for the Jurong Group Representation Constituency, or GRC in short. He also has a job at SBS Transit.
Early life and education
Ang Wei Neng was born in Singapore on 31 March 1967. For his primary education, Wei Neng attended Nanyang Primary School. Thereafter, he studied at The Chinese High School (now Hwa Chong Institution) and Hwa Chong Junior College. He obtained a degree in Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore in 1990 and Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) degree in 1991. In 2000, he completed his master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) course at the Nanyang Technological University.[1]
Career
From 1991 to 1997, Wei Neng worked for the Singapore Police Force. After quitting being a police, he landed a job as a profit centre manager at American International Group, which he left in 2000 to join BexCom. Following a two years' stint there, he switched to Hiap Moh Corporation and subsequently Mcare Lab.[1] Since 2004, Wei Neng has been working at the Singapore-based transportation organisation SBS Transit. He currently serves as the Senior Vice-President overseeing the entire omnibus operations in SBS Transit.[2]
A member of the Singapore-based People's Action Party, Wei Neng was officially sworn into the Parliament of Singapore as a member of parliament for Jurong GRC on 7 May 2011.[1] He is a member of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Education and Transport. He is also the Chairman of Jurong-Clementi Town Council. Speaking in parliament in November 2012, Wei Neng expressed his desire for the Road Traffic Act (Chapter 276) to be altered to accommodate the great influx of buses and other vehicles on the road.[3]
Personal life
A Christian, Wei Neng is married with four children.[1]
