Anglican Diocese of Newcastle (Australia)

The Anglican Diocese of Newcastle in Australia is located in the state of New South Wales and extends along the coast of the state from Woy Woy to Laurieton and inland to Merriwa and Murrurundi.
The diocese was founded from the Diocese of Australia by letters patent of 25 June 1847.[1] The cathedral church of the diocese is Christ Church Cathedral in Newcastle.
On 24 September 2013 Greg Thompson, Bishop of the Northern Territory, was elected as the bishop of the diocese. He was installed at Christ Church Cathedral on 2 February 2014. The assistant bishop is Peter Stuart.[2]
