Ant ('Oath') was a weekly leftwing publication in Turkey, which first appeared in 1967. Ant supported the Workers Party of Turkey (TİP), and sought to resolve the differences between the TİP and other sectors of the left. Ant stressed that the struggle for socialism and the struggle against imperialism had to be combined.
However, in the early 1970s, Ant drifted away from TİP. It began advocating the build-up of a new revolutionary party and gradually it began arguing for the urban guerrilla line.[1] It was closed down by the military after the March 1971 Turkish coup d'état.[2] After the coup Ant's editors, Doğan Özgüden and Inci Tugsavul, fled to Europe, and founded the Info-Türk group.
