Anthony Luciani (born May 13, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward currently under contract with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.
Playing career
Luciani played three seasons (2008–2011) of major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the Erie Otters.
On April 7, 2011, the Florida Panthers signed Luciani to an entry-level contract. He immediately joined the Panthers' AHL affiliate Rochester Americans, playing three games before the end of their 2010–11 AHL season.[1]
Following the 2013–14 season, the Panthers did not extend a qualifying offer to Luciani and as a result he became an unrestricted free agent.[2] He opted to remain in the ECHL in signing a one-year contract with the Toledo Walleye on September 22, 2014.[3] On March 9, 2015, Toledo would trade Luciani to the Gwinnett Gladiators for Joe Stejskal[4] and then flipped to the Greenville Road Warriors the next day for Scott Arnold.[5]
On June 23, 2015, Luciani signed his first contract abroad, agreeing to a one-year deal with Norwegian club, Sparta Warriors in Sarpsborg of the GET-ligaen.[6] Luciani appeared in just 14 games with the Warriors before opting for a mid-season transfer to the Italian Serie A with HC Asiago.
Scoring at a better then point-per-game average in Europe, Luciani returned to North America as a free agent following the season. On September 13, 2016, he opted to continue in the ECHL, signing a one-year deal with the Idaho Steelheads.[7]
