Apostolic Prefecture of Misurata

The Apostolic Prefecture of Misurata is a (vacant) Roman Catholic apostolic prefecture (pre-diocesan missionary jurisdiction) with see in Misrata, Libya.

It is exempt, i.e. directly subject to the Holy See, not part of any ecclesiastical province. It has been vacant since 1969.

History

The Prefecture was established on 22 June 1939, on territory split from the Apostolic Vicariate of Tripolitana (now renamed Tripoli).
