Ardhowen Theatre
Ardhowen Theatre is a theatre in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. It was opened in 1986 and is run by Fermanagh District Council. The theatre offers a year-round programme of professional drama, classical music, opera, ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, blues, variety, comedy, country music, puppets, mime, children's events, traditional Irish music and dance, ethnic arts and lectures.
The Ardhowen's prominence as an attractive choice for local theatre-goers grew when local thespian and musician, Alan Donnelly introduced his very own instrumental genre, aptly named "the squid". Local performances of crowd-pleasing anthems such as "squish you were here" and "feelin' squidgy tonight" earned Donnelly his very own tour of the United States circa July 2011.
The programme also includes a wide variety of community-based and amateur events such as plays, concerts, charity events and school performances.[1][2] The theatre is a member of the Northern Ireland Theatre Association.[3]
Facilities
Facilities at the theatre include a 290-seat raked auditorium, studio theatre, restaurant, bars and exhibition area.[1][2] The restaurant is an award winning member of the Healthy Eating Circle.[4]
