Army Hotel Management Institute
Army Hotel Management Institute (AHMI) was established on 3 June 2009 in Dhaka, Bangladesh which was inaugurated by then chief of army staff of Bangladesh army General Moeen Uddin Ahmed in Utshab Banquet Hall, Radisson Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka with the aim to meet the need of experts in tourism and hotel management sectors in home and to export abroad.[1]
Curriculum
"Food and beverage service" was the first program introduced, a 20-week-long course with 35,000 taka ($500) fee. The class of first batch is to start from 8 June 2009. The admission requirement is HSC or O level for the course. There will be hands-on experience facility for the students to learn the fundamentals of food management, production, and services. The balance between theory with practice, independent learning with strong faculty support have been the design goal of the curriculum.
Administration
The Army hotel development limited, a company by Army welfare organization and Army welfare trust, will direct the AHMI institute. There is a plan to start a graduation course in this field. Besides, establishment of a 5-star hotel in Chittagong[2] is on progress and another in khulna is on plan by the company. The company also owns Radisson Water Garden Hotel[3] in Dhaka.
