Ashraf Group of Industries (agi)[1] had established in early 1980s with the following divisions in Punjab and Sindh respectively in the name of Ashraf Sugar Mills Limited & HM Iqbal Coal Mines (Pvt) Ltd.

Ashraf Sugar Mills

The erection of the Sugar cane mill started in August 1981 and accomplished in a record time of 13 months under the guidance of its founder Late Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf.[2] The trial production was started in December 1982 and concluded in March 1983. Subsequently, on the death of Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf in November 1983, the name of the Sugar Mills was changed to Ashraf Sugar Mills to pay befitting homage to its founder.

HM Iqbal Coal Mines

This project was started 40 years before in Lakhra coal mine area at district Jamshoro and incorporated in Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistanon June 30, 1982,[3] aiming to provide fresh coal for the power generation units and coal based plants in Pakistan.
