Voodoo being practised in Attitogon

West African Vodun (voodoo) is practiced in the village. During a voodoo ceremony which takes place in Attitogon dances are performed with drums which played the music of their spirit god, known as Loa. The speed of the dancing and drumming accelerates until the dancer is possessed by the spirit of Loa. During possession, the dancer completely loses control of their limbs and in some circumstances may lose consciousness. The possessed dancers are supported by others at this potentially dangerous stage to prevent the dancer from harming themselves and others around them.
