Austin Music Foundation
The Austin Music Foundation (AMF) is a nonprofit organization with a singular mission: to unite, ignite, and revolutionize Austin, Texas's local music community. Launched in March 2002, AMF has grown to over 3,500 members. Its advisory board consists of 21 highly respected local and national industry professionals. AMF is supported by the help of over 50 volunteers with a wide variety of expertise and professional affiliations.
Programs
Music Industry Boot Camp (MIBC)
An educational seminar to assist musicians learn about the business aspects of the music industry, enabling them to make informed decisions about their career development. Held bi-monthly, each seminar is led by a panel of both local and national experts. At each MIBC, AMF educational handbooks are distributed to attendees that include information particular to the topic and includes charts, how-to guides, industry contacts, and more.
Solo Sessions
A year-round, one-on-one consultation service that allows Austin musicians the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the AMF team to gain valuable advice for career advancement. It offers insights on artistic development, marketing, touring, and business strategies. More than 5,000 hours of free career consultation services have been provided to more than 3,000 local artists and industry professionals.
Incubator
A groundbreaking, innovative program that gives selected artists a combination of financial assistance, training, and mentoring to record and market new musical works. The selected Incubator artists work with AMF staff and its renowned Advisory Board to define and pursue their creative and professional goals, which are supported by a budget of up to $15,000 worth of services. To date it has provided over $95,000 in direct financial assistance to 18 local musicians.
