Axel Poniatowski (born August 3, 1951) is a member of the National Assembly of France.[1] He represents the Val d'Oise department, and is a member of the Union for a Popular Movement.[1]
Biography
Prince Axel Poniatowski was born on August 3, 1951 in Rabat, Morocco.[2] He grew up in Morocco and in the United States, following his father the diplomat Michel Poniatowski.[2] Later, he also lived in the US for five more years, and in Saudi Arabia for three years.[2] He has been the mayor of Isle-Adam since 1999, and the Representative of Val d'Oise since 2002.[2] He serves as the President of the foreign affairs commission in the French National Assembly.[1] He is a distant relative of the last king of Poland Stanisław II August and of Marshal Józef Poniatowski.
He worked in the private sector for 25 years.[2] He speaks English, Spanish, and some Arabic.[2] In 2008, he supported Barack Obama.[3][4]
