Ayomide "Ayo" Akinola (born January 20, 2000) is an American professional soccer player who currently plays for Toronto FC II.

Career

Club

After a spell with the TFC Academy, Akinola was called up to the Toronto FC II set-up during the 2016 USL season.[1] He made his professional on June 15, 2016, replacing Shaan Hundal in the 80th minute during a 1–1 draw with FC Montreal. His first start came a week later, suffering a 4–1 defeat to Louisville City FC on June 22, 2016.[2]

International

Despite being born in Canada, Akinola is eligible to play internationally for the United States. He made his debut for the United States Under-15 side on April 25, 2015, in a 4–1 victory over Costa Rica. The following day he scored his first international goal, netting four goals and an assist in a 6–2 win against Croatia. He also scored in his final appearance for the Under-15s, in a 3–3 draw in England.[3]

On December 2, 2015, he made his debut for the Under-17 national team, playing 40 minutes in a 3–2 defeat to England Under-16s. He first goal came against Brazil on March 22, 2016, before netting a brace against Russia on March 26, 2016.[3]
