BLK Super Speciality Hospital is largest stand-alone private sector hospital based in New Delhi, India.[1] It was founded by B L Kapur on 2 January 1959 to create a patient-centric, tertiary healthcare organization focused on non-intrusive quality care, utilizing leading edge technology with a human touch.[2] It is accredited by the NABH [3] and National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories.[4]

The hospital specialties include anaesthesiology, ayurveda, bariatric and advanced laparoscopic surgery, dermatology, emergency/acute care, endocrinology and endocrine surgery, ear, nose and throat, cochlear implant, gynecology and obstetrics, IVF and infertility treatment, liver transplantation, nuclear medicine, pathology, respiratory medicine, allergy and sleep disorders, vascular and endovascular surgery.[5]

History

In 1956, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist B L Kapur initiated the project for creating a 200 bed hospital in Delhi. The hospital was inaugurated by then Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, on 2 January 1959.

By 1984, when the hospital celebrated its Silver Jubilee, it was on its way to becoming Delhi’s premier multi specialty institute.

In the late 1990s, the Trustees of the hospital felt the need to upgrade it to a tertiary care hospital and tied up with Radiant Life Care Private Limited[6] to redevelop and manage the facility.

The hospital is a state-of-the-art tertiary care hospital. It is one of the biggest standalone private Hospitals in the National Capital Region.[7]
