August Sky Films, founded in 2014 by cousins Bill St. Angelo and John St. Angelo, is a film production company focusing on creating limited series, documentary, and narrative films.[1] The company draws its name from the founders' mutual great-grandfather, a tailor and haberdasher named August Salat.[2]
Back In Brooklyn
August Sky's first film, Back in Brooklyn, is a documentary of jazz musician and composer John Patitucci. Directed by Patrick Cone, the film features footage from rehearsals, recording studio sessions, and live performances, following the creation of Patitucci's 2014 album “Brooklyn”. Featured interviews include musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and Wayne Shorter.[3]
Much of the funding for the film was raised via a Fall 2014 Kickstarter campaign.[4]
