History
The school was founded in 1963 by Shraddheya Chandra Bhanu Gupta, the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, under the auspices of the Motilal Memorial Society.[3] The foundation stone of this school was laid by Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, the then Prime Minister of India, on November 19, 1964.In the formative years of its functioning, proper norms about the management, finances, accounts and teaching were formulated and enforced by Nirmal Chandra Chaturvedi, one of the prominent office bearers of the Society. The school celebrated its semicentennial in the year 2014.
Location
The school is situated on the Motilal Nehru Marg opp. Charbagh Railway Station, Station Road, Lucknow. The grand campus of the school has been blessed by four more units of the Moti Lal Memorial Society, namely, Ravindralaya, Bal Sangrahalaya, Harbilash Bal Chikitsalaya and Motilal Nehru Homeopathic Hospital.
Infrastructure
The institution is housed in a spacious building amidst picturesque surroundings. The school has a field, which can be used as a soccer field, a large assembly ground, a basketball court, a swimming pool, a play ground for primary wing and a small park for kindergarten kids.
The institution has a well-equipped Library with a large collection of books on varied subjects, which helps in exploring the realm of knowledge. Adjoining the school is the Bal Sangrahalaya, which is an education system in itself. The school has laboratories and smart classes for specialized study of various disciplines.[4]

Admissions
The school conducts an entrance test for admission to different classes. The selected candidates usually interviewed by a panel appointed by the Principal. No admissions are made to Class X and Class XII (transfer admissions are an exception). Admissions to Class XI are solely based on the grades achieved in Class X and performance of the candidate in Personal Interview. The competition is fierce for the sparse annual intake.[6]
Academics
The school follows the scheme of CCE up to Class X. In Class XI and Class XII, the institute offers three 6-subject streams: Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, Hindi/Computer Science, English and Commercial Arts), Commerce (Mathematics/Hindi/Computer Science, Economics, Accounts, Business Studies, English and Physical Education) and Humanities (Geography, History/Fashion Studies, Economics/Hindi, Psychology, English and Physical Education).
Education at BVM develops among the students a global outlook and perspective while maintaining respect and regard for their motherland and Indian culture. The curriculum is designed to sensitize them to current developments taking place worldwide and educate them for the future so that they can be culturally versatile and are comfortable working, communicating and collaborating with people all over the world. However, what students learn at BVM is not only curriculum-based, a whole host of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities also contribute to the holistic development of the personality and individual talents.
