BanBao
BanBao building blocks is a line of plastic construction toys that are manufactured by Jumbogrand Plastics Moulding Industrial CO.,LTD, a company based in Shantou, Guangdong, China. BanBao pieces range contains different types of blocks, gears and figurines which can be connected in various ways using the principle of mortise and tenon. The creations can be then disassembled. The building process is similar to Lego's and the bricks are partially compatible with Lego brand blocks. Lego and other producers brick plates can not connect correctly with BanBaos bricks or plates, because the pins of the BanBao bricks and plates are too high. BanBao bricks and plates also differ in height in addition to different height of pins.
BanBao set themes
BanBao has a range of over 20 different lines and 160 products. BanBao toys consist of a variety of themes, including transportation, military, police, country, castle, and dinosaurs.
Lawsuit with LEGO
Lego filed a lawsuit against the Chinese toy manufacturer on Oct. 7, 2011, asking BanBao to take off the market all of its products that contained building bricks, mini figures and product packages that looked too much like Lego, according to a statement on the Banbao website. On Oct. 24, 2011, the court ruled in favor for Lego.[1]
Mini figures
BanBao's mini figures are called ToBees and do not resemble LEGO mini figures in their appearance at all, they do not have legs, an oversized head, and feet (as there are no real legs) can not resemble walking movement.
