Barun, India

Barun is a small town in Barun Panchayat Block of Aurangabad district of Bihar, India.[1]

There are 17 panchayats in Barun Block: Pipara, Dhangayee, Gothouli, Kochadh, Kajichak, Pothhu, Bhopatpur, Tengra, Jankop, Bardi Khurd, Barun, Dhamni, Meh, Riur, Kanchanpur, Khaira & Dudhar.[1]

Barun is located 9.9 km (6.2 mi) from Pahlega Railway station and 11.6 km (7.2 mi) from Aurangabad.[2][3] The bridge No. 4 for crossing over the Son river is 2.5 km (1.6 mi) away and Dehri-on-sone across river is 5.4 km (3.4 mi) away.

The PinCode of Barun is 824112.[4] Barun is located just 2 km (1.2 mi) away from Grand Trunk Road, which crosses over Sone river to Dehri.

Among the places of interest are a couple of old Hindu temples located within 1 km (0.62 mi) of Barun. Patna canal and a lake known as Barun Lake are also located within 1 km (0.62 mi) periphery of Barun.

Barun has a police station, post office, hospitals, schools and also a college.
