In 1995, police officer Michael Cox of the Boston Police Department was severely beaten by fellow officers while working in plain clothes. His story was the subject of the book The Fence, written by author and former Boston Globe reporter Dick Lehr.^{[1][2][3][4][5][6]}

In November 2013, it was reported that the police officer, Michael A. Cox Sr., is the father of New York Giants running back Michael Cox.^[7]
