Berkeley Crescent is a late 18th century crescent of six Georgian houses with a private communal garden. It is located between Berkeley Square and Queens Road in the Clifton area of Bristol. The postcode is within the Hotwells and Harbourside ward and electoral division, which is in the constituency of Bristol West.[1]

The crescent is located within the Clifton conservation area, and the numbers 1–6 cover the south and east side of the crescent. The area has Grade II buildings and has mid Georgian style which are constructed in brick with limestone dressings and a slate mansard roof. Each three storey house has a attic and basement which has a double-depth plan. .[2][3]

History

In the 14th Century, there was a road originally known as Bartholomew Close before 1787 and after that [4] was known as Berkeley Crescent and it was officially completed in 1800. Berkeley Crescent was planned to be part of Berkeley Square.[5]

At 6 Berkeley Crescent, Clifton Hotels owns a hotel called Clifton Suites which is located at this address.[6]

The Bristol Museum and Art Gallery and the University of Bristol is close by.[7]
