Betty Jean McFadden

Betty Jean McFadden (October 22, 1924 - April 7, 2013) was a pitcher in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. She was born in Savanna, Illinois and was nicknamed Mac. She both batted and threw right-handed.

Personal life

Betty was married to Michael Rusynyk for 66 years. She had two sons and one daughter: Gary, David and Lynn. When she died, she was survived by four grandchildren (Sanya, Kristen, Megan, Alexander). One grandchild, Taryn, died before her.

Baseball years

Betty Jean only played a few games—less than 10—in the league. She played with the South Bend Blue Sox. But even when she left the league, she still kept up her love for baseball. For the next 8 years, Betty played with the Savanna, Illinois All-Star team and 5 years with the Lakewood, Rangers. As well, she took up golf and played in two golf leagues.
