Beyond Bank is one of Australia's largest customer owned financial institutions, with assets under management of more than $4 billion. Beyond Bank is based in South Australia, the Australian Capital Territory, Western Australia and New South Wales, providing financial services to its members including savings and business accounts, term deposits, loans, insurance and financial planning. Beyond Bank is a certified B Corp.
Beyond Bank Australia was formerly a credit union called Community CPS Australia and became a mutual bank on 1 August 2013. The legal name is still Community CPS Australia Ltd but trading as Beyond Bank Australia.[1]
Beyond Bank is a naming rights sponsor for the Adelaide Credit Union Christmas Pageant.[2]
History
Beyond Bank Australia was formerly Community CPS Australia Ltd (Community CPS) which was formed as a result of a merger between the Commonwealth Public Servants Credit Unions - CPS Credit Union (SA) Ltd and CPS Credit Union Co-operative (ACT) Ltd in March 2006.
In November 2008 Western Australian based United Credit Union Ltd (United) and Westax merged with Community CPS and carried on business in Western Australia under the registered business name United Community.
In May 2009 the Polish Community Credit Union also merged with Community CPS.
In January 2010 Hunter Region based Companion Credit Union (Companion), established in 1975, merged with Community CPS and continued to trade as Companion Credit Union.
In June 2011 Wagga Mutual Credit Union based in the Riverina NSW, merged with Community CPS Australia and continued to trade as Wagga Mutual Credit Union.
In 2012 Community CPS was named Money Magazine's[3] Credit Union of the Year 2012 and awarded the 2012 Mozo[4] People’s Choice Award for Best Credit Union.
In August 2013 Community CPS became a mutual bank called Beyond Bank Australia.
In April 2016 Country First Credit Union based in Griffith NSW merged with Beyond Bank Australia.
In May 2016 Beyond Bank Australia acquired Universal Financial Planning in the Hunter region.
In June 2016 Beyond Bank Australia became a certified B Corp.
