Big Thick Rod
Big Thick Rod is a comedy about love and exploitation by playwright Stanton Wood. The play had its world premiere, presented by Rabbit Hole Ensemble, at the New York International Fringe Festival in August 2008.[1]
About
The show follows the story of Cricket, a wood nymph taken from the forest and married by a successful lawyer, Elmer. Problems arise when Cricket realizes that Elmer is far from willing to satisfy her need to have sex at least nine times a day, every day. She convinces her husband to hire a gardener, and Elmer is more than happy to begin teaching his new wife about the ins and outs of capitalism, starting with the gardener's inhumane contract. Cricket tries to make do with a gardener's services in "bush-tending," but it soon becomes clear that he needs help to keep up. Luckily, Cricket meets a handyman named Big Thick Rod.[2]
