BookSmart is a bookmaking application developed by Blurb,Inc. It allows users to design and publish books. The software can import content from blogs, Flickr sets, Picasa, SmugMug, and iPhoto albums, business plans, recipes, photos, email, and other sources, and includes book templates to aid in the layout of the books. In addition, Blurb enables authors to market and sell books created with BookSmart through its online bookstore. Blurb authors can tag their book content with keywords to maximize exposure, set their own pricing, and provide potential readers with a 15-page preview. The first beta version of BookSmart was made available to the public in May 2006.
Features
BookSmart allows users to drag-and-drop pictures and text into book templates and choose between a variety of backgrounds, page layouts, photo borders, themes, hand-illustrated ornaments, and color palettes. Finished books are printed on demand in either hard or soft cover.
In October 2007, Blurb added a Community Book feature that lets bookmakers invite other people to contribute content to a group book project.
