Broadminded (radio program)

Broadminded was a daily talk and entertainment show on SIRIUS XM Satelliete Radio Channel 107 - Sirius XM Stars.

It was hosted by real-life friends, Christine Eads and Molly Dedham. The hosts refer to themselves as "Broads". They discussed a wide range of topics from sex, men, entertainment, and life in general. Christine and Molly met at George Mason University in the early 90's and have been best friends ever since. They often refer to living together in LA, doing random jobs together and even dating the same guy.

The show debuted on [1] XM Radio channel 105 [2] TAKE 5 in October 2005. The show was originally heard from 8:00 - 10:00 PM evenings eastern time, but was quickly moved to the evening drive time slot, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Eastern time, due to its popularity with listeners. In September 2007, their timeslot was again moved - this time to the 12:00 - 3:00 PM (EST) slot with encore re-broadcasts at 9:00 PM (EST).

The original Broadminded show consisted of three "Broads", which included Molly, Christine and Shari Elliker. Shari's last show was on December 21, 2007. Jason Moore, of Panacea (group) fame, was the well-liked Board Operator (Board Op. for short) for the show and could be heard "chiming in" on the girls' rants from time to time.

After the merger between Sirius and XM satetellite radio companies, Broadminded went on a hiatus for six weeks in the beginning of 2009, and when they returned on March 17, 2009, to Sirius 102 and XM 155 The Stars Channels their time was changed to 12:00 - 2:00 PM (EST), with replays 8:00 - 10:00 PM (EST) Monday - Friday.

On November 3, 2009, Broadminded aired live from 2:00 - 4:00 PM (EST), with replays 10:00 PM – 12:00 AM (EST) Monday - Friday.

As of January 3, 2011, Broadminded is now live on the morning drive time slot, 8:00 - 10:00 AM (EST).

As of March 2013, the show was cancelled.

Specialities

Christine is a fan of entertainment and gossip and leads the other broads daily during Broadbuzz. Christine also seems to be the driving force during Ask The Broads/As Tried on Broadminded and The Unbelivable Broads. Her passion for her charity The Duffy House is now a part of a monthly segment Christine does the second Tuesday of each month to raise awareness about Domestic and Sexual abuse and Violence.

Molly is a fan of music and movies, and you will hear a Molly's Music segment every Thursday ranging from singing to the songs of the 80s onto a Tribute to Marvin Gaye. Molly also will give you all the scoop on movies before they hit the theaters and tell you what is worth watching and what to skip at the theaters. Molly will get the 'behind the scenes' interviews with Directors and Actors for your favorite movies.

The opening sequence to their show has recently been changed to reflect these interests.

The Broads Love American Idol, Bachelor, Bachelorette, Batchelor Pad, True Blood, Dancing With The Stars, Two and a Half Men, Game of Thrones, and you can hear their recaps weekly.

The Broads also host the Telluride film festival for Starz Entertainment TV Channel.
