Budmouth College is an "outstanding" secondary school and Sixth Form for boys and girls situated in Weymouth, Dorset, England. Budmouth is located in Chickerell, a suburb of Weymouth and overlooks the Jurassic Coast. It is named after the semi-fictional town of Budmouth (based on Weymouth) in Thomas Hardy's novels.

It consists of a secondary school and is the only school in Weymouth & Portland to also have a Sixth Form. Also on site is the privately owned Budmouth Community sports centre.[1] It teaches over 1,500 students in the 11–18 age range, school years 7 to 14. It teaches GCSEs, As Levels, A Levels and a range of certificate qualifications. Its results are better than average for GCSEs.[2]

The school has Combined Cadet Force which is open to all students in year 9 or above.[3]

Facilities

The school has many facilities at the disposal of its students, including:

New Build

Its campus overlooks the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The campus has been redeveloped, for occupancy after Easter 2011.[4] The new building was assembled and the students and teachers moved in. Then half of the old school was knocked down in Autumn/Winter 2011, leaving "Clare Tower" which features 'The Centre of Excellence' and 'Sixth Form Only' study areas.

Prince Edward visited Budmouth College to officially open the state of the art "Hub Teaching Centre".

"It has been wonderful to come into your college where the environment has impacted so positively upon learning." Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex KG KCVO.
