Burnaby Mountain Parkway

Burnaby Mountain Parkway looking west towards Burrard Inlet

Burnaby Mountain Parkway is a major road in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. It runs across Burnaby Mountain and connects Hastings Street leading west to Downtown Vancouver and Inlet Drive that becomes Barnet Highway leading east to Port Moody with Simon Fraser University, the City of Coquitlam, and other eastern suburbs.

The parkway was completed in the late 1990s. Immediately after it was put into service, according to "Burnaby Now", there was a huge spike in the deaths of deer resident on Burnaby Mountain, some of them pregnant. At the same time, Curtis Street in Lochdale was closed to commuters. Burnaby Mountain Parkway has now become the only thoroughfare linking North Burnaby with SFU, a viewpont and a restaurant on the western slope of Burnaby Mountain. Motorists should be careful to avoid a collision with wildlife crossing the parkway.
